Hello everyone,
I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
Today has been one of those deeply immersive days—spent reviewing papers and shaping ideas for a new project I’m currently working on. I’m collaborating on a handbook focused on adolescent identity in the digital age, and my role involves writing a paper that explores how artificial intelligence influences the formation of that identity.
Spending time with this topic has been genuinely fascinating. Identity, after all, isn’t just a label we carry; it’s our deeper sense of who we are, how we experience our existence, and the ways—often consciously, sometimes unconsciously—we respond to the timeless question: “Who am I?”
The project itself feels incredibly promising. I’ve already learned a great deal, especially through a series of masterclasses led by experts on using AI in academic research. Beyond the tools themselves, what’s been most valuable is the emphasis on thinking systematically and ethically about how AI can support meaningful, rigorous scholarship.
I’m looking forward to sharing more thoughts and insights from this work as it develops. There’s so much to unpack at the intersection of identity, adolescence, and emerging technologies—and I hope this space can be part of that ongoing conversation.
Wishing you all the best,
Ali Safarnavadeh
